Flash Challenge Art Exhibit - Barbarella in Hieroglyphics

Flash Challenge Art Exhibit took place February 26, 2019 in the LJMU Atrium Gallery.
MA Fine Arts students were given the challenge of redoing their work from a previous show or using elements from someone else's work to create a new work.

My art piece, Barbarella in Hieroglyphics, uses altered photographs of classmates art work from previous shows screen printed on silver lame and faux black velvet fabric.  The design is constructed to mimic the painting created by Charlotte Hill which was featured in our collaborative show.  Trash bags were used in lieu of painted black lines.

The name Barbarella means foreign woman.  It is also the name of a sci-fi movie from the 1960's starring Jane Fonda.  The costumes are a visual feast of shiny gold and silver lame, glossy black spandex. The silk screen images are meant to look like ancient writings to tell a story similar to hieroglyphics.

Title: Barbarella in Hieroglyphics
